Roast With Homemade Gravy

Roast With Homemade Gravy

We recently had family over for Zack's birthday dinner. I made two roast. One with my quick and recipe (package of Lipton onion soup mix, can of cream of mushroom, and beef broth.) Then, I tried a new recipe with homemade gravy on the other roast. I had everyone try both and the homemade gravy was the clear winner! It really did make SUCH a difference.

Step 1- Mix together the following seasonings and sprinkle all over the meat. Rub it in really well on all sides.

  • One 2-4 lb chuck roast
  • 2 tsp Adoba Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp pepper

Step 2- Heat your oil on the skillet and brown meat for 3-4 minutes on each side.

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Step 3- Remove your meat and add in more oil and butter. Let simmer and stir. Add your flour. Continue to stir, mix, and scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spatula for one minute.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 4 tsp flour

Step 4-

As you simmer and mix add your bullion and beef stock. Once that is mixed well, add the rest of your seasonings. Continue to mix and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.

  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 32 oz carton beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp Worcershire
  • Salt to taste

Step 5- Add in sliced onion and put your meat back into the gravy. Cook for one hour at 350.

  • 1 large onion

Step 6- After one hour add in the rest of your vegetables and cook for two more hours.

  • 4 carrots
  • 5-6 red potatoes

It really is not that difficult or time consuming. It is so worth the extra steps. Let us know if you try it! We love to see your creations! Tag us @martinfarmsbeefco
